The regional park of Causses du Quercy has a rich historical and architectural heritage beyond the most famous sites. It is classified UNESCO World Heritage Geopark.
The cities of Rocamadour and Saint-Cirq Lapopie, the ornate cave of Pech Merle or the Dordogne valley are among the Great Sites of Occitanie. The Regional Natural Park also has many villages that perfectly illustrate "Quercynoise" architecture, particularly identifiable.
Our house is close to Aveyron, Tarn and Tarn et Garonne; located 28 kms from Cahors,
16 kms from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, 30 kms from the "Gorges de l'Aveyron" and "Gorges du Tarn", 1h20 drive from "Gouffre de Padirac", and 1h30 from the Blagnac airport in Toulouse and "Rocamadour".
Close to the A20 motorway, the location is ideal for visits to the Lot or neighboring departments, not to mention the culinary arts and tourism of this beautiful country that is the Lot.
We are only 11 kms from shops and amenities (Limogne en Quercy and Lalbenque).
We are also next to the path of St Jacques de Compostela (GR65). Accessible through forest paths, I can show you the different hiking trails from the property.
By its preserved nature and its relief, the Regional Natural Park of Causses du Quercy is a paradise for hikers: on foot, mountain bike, bike or on the road, several hundred kilometers of marked trails are offered to you to browse the territory in all seasons.
The house is located in the countryside 15 minutes from Lalbenque, Limoges in Quercy, or Caylus, where are markets of local producers. You will be able to enjoy in the morning these typical markets with the representatives of "Back Yard of Occitanie" and the famous Lotois traditional dishes (truffle, duck breast, foie gras ...).
We are also located in the center of the "black triangle of Quercy", a triangular area, which is one of the best preserved sites of light pollution in France. Stars, planets, milky way ... you will not find a better place to observe them! You will be able to admire an incredible sky of stars at the edge of the swimming pool, on the terrace of the house, around a convivial table or a good barbecue, in love or with your children. The black triangle of Quercy attracts many astronomers from all over the world to admire the sky liberated from a wonderful angle.
Beyond the spectacular geological sites, the geology is also in the daily life of the landscapes of the Causse: in the walls of dry stone, in the architecture of the villages or in the agricultural soils ...
The Park enhances its geological heritage with its network of "GeoSites" (remarkable site of observation of geological phenomena). Under this name, are hiding various sites that will allow you to learn to read the traces left in the local landscape and better understand the geological phenomena at work in the Causses du Quercy. Today, this network brings together sites with free access or guided tours such as The Butte de Vaylats, the Cirque de Vènes, the Phosphatières des Tempories, the landscapes of St Cirq-Lapopie, the Igues d'Aujols, L'Igue de Crégols.
At Bach, let yourself be surprised by the contrasts of the Phosphatières du Cloup d'Aural: a phosphate exploitation having revealed fossils of the tertiary era and containing a flora "of tropical atmosphere" .... A guided tour and thematic areas with a treasure hunt for young and old are offered. An unusual place to discover with family or friends!
Moreover, the village of Bach is classified, since 2017, village in a Regional Natural Park labeled "GEOPARC WORLD UNESCO".
"Causses of Quercy" are a real sports ground. Many activities can be practiced by lovers of emotions and thrills: caving, climbing, canoeing, kayaking ...
